Christmas Card Week 3

Hi All!

This week's Christmas Card is a 5" x 5" square card. I used my new Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 3 stamps and die cut.

The tag that says "Christmas" has a smaller version of the image that makes up the background.  I think it has a very classy feel to it.

Thanks for checkin' it out!

Paper: 5" x 5" white card, white scraps
Stamps: PTI- Mat Stack 2 & 3, Wreath for all Seasons; Inkadinkado- Utopiary (tree)

CAS Mini Tag Card

Hi All!

This week's CAS-ual Friday challenge is to create a mini card.  I decided to make a square one- the dimensions are 3.5" square.
I made a "quilt" background with a stamp from the Tiny Tag stamp set. Actually, this whole card is made with the Tiny Tags stamps. This is a card that I made with a recipient in mind- a dear friend who needs some encouragement. I didn't take a picture, but the inside is stamped with "For nothing is impossible with God- Luke 1:37" from the PTI Beautiful Blessings stamp set.

Thanks for checkin' it out!!!

Supplies
   Paper: white scraps
   Stamps: PTI- Tiny Tags
Ink: VersaMagic- Pretty Petunia; Studio G- pink; Colorbox- Thistle
Other: button, string; PTI- Tiny Tag die cuts

PTI New Stamps

Hi All!

As part of my first-real-pay-check-celebration, I ordered some new stamps and die cuts by Papertrey Ink!!! I was sooooo super excited to see the box on my porch when I got home from work last night! Of course, I had to open them all up and do a little playing:

This is from the Daydreamer and Beautiful Blessings stamp sets.

I originally was making a Christmas card with it, but I decided that it is not exactly Christmas-sy. It's the right colors, but it's a very neutral sentiment. I actually may stamp "Merry Christmas" on the inside and call it one!

I also got:
   - Sweet Baby stamps and die cuts
   - Mat Stack 3 stamps and die cuts
   - Mehndi Medallion stamp set
   - Tiny Tags stamp set and die cuts
   - The Leafy Vine, Edgers #1, Bloom Builder #3, and the smaller Limitless Layers die cuts

Unfortunately, the Bloom Builders is faulty :( I'm going to have to get it exchanged because it won't cut all the way through any paper.

Thanks for checkin' it out!

Supplies
   Paper: white and green scraps
   Stamps: PTI- Daydreamer, Beautiful Blessings
Ink: PTI- ripe avocado; Colorbox- ruby
Other: a la mode- clear embossing powder

Christmas Card Week 2

Hi All!

This week's "Christmas Card" is actually some holiday tags! I think they're just as useful as cards around the holidays and, therefore, fit into my Christmas Card holiday category.

I cut the tags on cream card stock with the Cricut using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. Then I stamped the middle images and the words. I heavily distressed the tags with Vintage Photo and then added the glitter. I think they're great!!! I love the rustic feel of them!

Thanks for checkin' them out!

Supplies:
   Paper: cream card stock
Stamps: PTI- Wreath for all Seasons
Ink: Studio G- brown; Colorbox- scarlet, olive, merlot, chestnut; Tim Holtz Distress Ink- vintage photo
Other: Cricut with George and Basic Shapes; Ranger Ice Stickles- gold ice

CAS-ual Fridays Paper Pierced Turkey

Hi All!

Today I have a card for the CAS-ual Friday #19 challenge: Falling to Pieces. This translates to "paper piercing"! I am slightly embarrassed to say this, but I guess I should- I have never done paper piercing before! And, I am soooo in love with the results!

I stamped the turkey onto the background paper and four other scraps. I cut out the various "feathers" and glued them down.

The sentiment was stamped in four different sections because I didn't want to cut up my stamp. It was actually a birthday sentiment- I swapped out the word "day" for "FALL".  I love it!!!

Thanks for checkin' it out!

Supplies
Paper: cream card at 4" x 5.5"; PTI- terra cotta; scraps
Stamps: Fiskars- Turkey Lurkey; PTI- Birthday Basics, Wreath for all Seasons
   Ink: Colorbox- chestnut, olive
   Other: scissors and glue

Christmas Card Week 1

Hi All!

Look! I did it! Here is my Week 1 Christmas Card!
I was inspired by the Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge to make my own background. I used the tree from Little Bitty Bird to create it. After I was all done, I decided it was a little bare, so I added the stars and glitter.

The red piece started out as a pocket, but I changed my mind midway. The red has one shiny side and one matte- I liked the contrast. Ans the fold gives it some more dimension.
Thanks for checkin' it out!!!

Supplies
Paper: white card at 5.5" x 4"; red scrap
Stamps: PTI- Little Bitty Bird; free Christmas stamp set
Ink: Martha Stewart- bamboo; Colorbox- black, silver
Other: Stickles- frosted lace; green button; white ribbon; red/white twine; black stickers; Inkssentials- white gel pen; Spellbinders- circles

Hemming Fabulousness!

Hi All!

Tonight I have something different to share with you. I have successfully hemmed on my sewing machine a pair of scrub pants!

I know... I know... anyone can hem right? Well, now I can too! I've done quite a bit of pants hemming by hand before, but never on a machine.

Just look at those beautiful parallel lines! I am so proud!!!

On another topic, I had an idea today (after my fiance's mom took him out shopping for Christmas presents- yes, that's right) that maybe it's about time to get started on my Christmas cards. So, since I have scrambled every year to make a million (or so) last minute, maybe this year I should start early. I decided that I am going to make a Christmas card once a week until Christmas....

I read that putting any declaration down on paper (or computer) greatly increases the odds of following through on it. So- once a week I AM MAKING A CHRISTMAS CARD!! In fact, I started on one tonight before my hands got tired. I will make one this week! Keep an eye out for it!

Thanks for checkin' it out!!!!

Lost in working girl land!!!

Hi All!
I'm not entirely sure if I mentioned this, but I started a new job on the last day that I posted anything here (August 22). I graduated from nursing school back in May and got hired at my local (literally like 2 miles from my house) hospital as part of the new-grad-RN program. So, even though I am only working 36 hours a week (full time!!!) I'm pooped!!!

Also, I think I am spending almost ALL my free time making these somewhat-rediculously-complicated save the date cards. My wonderful fiance helped me for several hours yesterday and today and got all the pieces cut to the right size. Unfortunately, at least an hour was spent re-cutting what I had previously cut to the wrong size... OOPS! As of tonight, I have 58 (of 144) completely, all the way finished!!!!

WOO HOO! And- there are many, many more that are partially finished. I've learned that I can only paint 8-10 trees in one sitting, so I am breaking up the work with other steps- like embossing the birds (etc.). Major progress though!

Would you like a house shopping progress note? Well, let's just say that "progress" is a subjective word ok? Because I am not really feeling like we're making much progress....

I think that this "buyer's market" is a bunch of hype to make people want a house!

Have we looked at many, many more houses? Yes...

Have we ruled out most of them? Yes...

In fact, we have even put in two more offers since I last wrote. The first one was out-bid (on a bank owned). The second one we made is on a short sale (bah) that is (unfortunately) fabulous! We should hear back tomorrow or Tuesday if the owners accept our offer... if they do, then the offer goes off into the deep, dark world of banking nightmares to be evaluated and we probably will not hear anything 'til October...

Progress eh?

Here's some fabulous, cheery pics that I've found on pintrist this week:

This last one seems to describe my life about now :) I have a giant TO DO list waiting for tomorrow and one of the items is CLEAN!!! Ya, we'll see how that goes!

Thanks for checkin' in!!! I hope to have some real projects up and going soon!!!!!
