Make It Monday- The late version

Hi All!

Today I finally have the post for last Monday's Make It Monday challenge- creating flowers out of die cuts. I actually made them both last Monday, but never got it online... Better late than never eh?
I used the Delightful Doily die to make a base and then layered the "petals" that are actually leaf stamps that I hand cut. Then I used Tag It's #2 to make a center for the flower.

I also made a similar one-layer card:
Thanks for checking it out!!!

High 5 for Friday

Hi All!
It's Friday- or at least it was when I woke up for this "day"...

So, this week in review- the highlights that is- to link up with the great From My Gray Desk blog...

1. It's good Friday! And that means Easter is this weekend- a wonderful time to celebrate our Savior with my family!

2. I made an Easter banner for our mantle- see the last post for a pic :)

3. Monday night I got cancelled at work, which gave me five days off in a row!

4. My blind dog was adorable- she backed herself under the coffee table and refused to come out, just slept and slept til I moved the table off her.

5. My husband and I ended up playing frisbee in the park with each other because our dogs ignored our new frisbee... We enjoyed ourselves even tho the dogs were too distracted to play with us.

I hope your week was great (or mildly un-eventful) too!
Happy Good Friday!

Easter Banner

Hi All!

I have a project to share with you- my first home-holiday-decoration project since we bought the house!!!

An Easter banner:

You'll notice the mirror below the mantle...
The one that we bought to hang above the mantle...
The one where we got it home and realized that we don't own the supplies to hang a mirror....

So, to the banner:
I had some old book pages that I cut into pendants and then distressed the edges.
I cut out some egg shapes from scraps I had laying around, folded them in half and glued the halves together to make them 3-D.
I distressed the edges then glued them on the middle of the pendant.
I thought they needed a little something else, so I added a glitter edge around the egg.
Last, I measured my mantle, laid out the pendants, and stapled them to the ribbon.
It's attached to the mantle with two push-pins.

My inspiration for this project is from Pinterest, which is originally from  Creations By Kara.

Thanks for checkin' it out!

The Day's List

Hi All,

Today is my last full day off where I slept during the night and will sleep tonight before Easter, so I have made a list:
I found in nursing school that if I don't make a list, it doesn't get done... I have a standard check-off list for work to make sure that I get all of the charting done... I think I should make a list of all our bills for the month because I am constantly worrying that I am going to miss something...

My hubby doesn't understand why I need to physically write out a list instead of using my iphone- I think it has something to do with the satisfaction of crossing it off and also when I write it out, I take my time thinking about the list more. I enjoy my cup of coffee and slowly write it out, adding as I remember what I'd been planning to get done.

Let's see how much I get done!!!

Late Entry: 8:50 pm- I'm done with it all!!! I even made fresh, from scratch bread!!! The house smells AMAZING!!!

Make It Monday #60- Generational Stamping

Hi All!

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful spring weather!!! I haven't been able to be out in it too much, but I've certainly enjoyed seeing it and watching everything bloom!

We bought our house in November as a short sale... where they had stopped watering the lawns. My big priority has been to get our front yard looking as good as our neighbors and I'm happy to report that all my hard work (i.e. nagging my husband to do all the yard work) has paid off!!! We have a green lawn and living bushes in the front yard! Now the back is a different story... one that will have a sequel!

Today I have my Make It Monday card to share:

I started with a blank white piece of paper and stamped two different flowers and a few different leaves with Papertrey Ink's Rosie Posie.  With the stamp off technique (see the original PTI blog post for details)  I felt like the whole image should have some softening, so I added some background stamping on top. Also, I distressed the edges of the white paper as well as the kraft. I like the overall feel of it.

It is a completely flat, mail-able card! There is a little extra texture to the pendant with some glossy accents, but not too much.

Thanks for checkin' it out!

Paper: Kraft cardstock folded to 4.25" x 5.5", white cardstock, scraps
Stamps: PTI- rosie posie, door to door; Inkadinkado- background script
Ink: PTI- ripe avocado, berry sorbet; VersaMagic- wheat; Brilliance- coffee bean, moonlight white; Martha Stewart- hibiscus; Colorbox- thistle, olive; Tim Holtz Distress Ink- antique linen
